Welcome to my Studio

I am Shazia Rashida Osman, a Fine Artist and Calligrapher, practicing Heritage Fine Arts inspired by Islamic tradition.

My work is heavily informed by studies of ancient manuscripts, particularly those from the Maghreb, and North Africa.

Incorporating the traditional techniques of Calligraphy and Illumination, my aspiration is to convey my love for the written word, and gain closeness to the Divine.

Elevating my work

with the use of precious materials such as hand-crushed shell gold, 24k gold leaf, earth pigments and handmade paper, I take delight in experimenting with unusual combinations of paper, pigment and ink.

My compositions are contemporary and unique in their style, whilst being inspired by the work of past masters.

Visual narratives

enable me to explore a unique Islamic Art genre and style.

Combining the Abstract-like quality of Modern Art, with beautiful Calligraphy in the Maghrebi Script, my Art style brings a fresh perspective to Modern Islamic Art.
