The Parables Print Club
Written by Shazia Osman
In a world shaped by speed, screens, and constant updates, I’ve been craving a different way of sharing my work.
Something slower. Something tangible.
Something that asks for presence rather than attention.
That longing is what led to The Parables Print Club - a snail mail offering rooted in reflection, correspondence, and care.
This is not a product drop or a content subscription. It’s a commitment to staying with ideas, texts, and questions over time, and sharing that process through print and post.
What is The Parables Print Club?
The Parables Print Club is a postal subscription where members receive physical mail from my studio throughout the year.
Each mailing is designed to be opened slowly and kept - not consumed and discarded.
Depending on the season, your envelope may include:
-
A handwritten or printed letter
-
A small artwork or studio print
-
Reflections connected to my ongoing practice
-
Prompts for contemplation or journalling
Everything is created, assembled, and sent with intention.
Why print? Why post?
Print asks us to slow down.
Unlike digital content, it can’t be skimmed in seconds or lost in a feed. It sits with you. It ages. It carries marks of handling.
Posting work also changes the relationship between artist and recipient. It becomes correspondence rather than broadcast - something personal, direct, and grounded.
For me, this feels like the right container for the kind of work I’m making now.
The focus for 2026: Surah Duha
In 2026, The Parables Print Club will centre on a year-long return to Surah Duha.
This Surah speaks directly to interruption, waiting, reassurance, and responsibility. It addresses the fear of abandonment and the quiet work of care that follows relief.
I’ve explored Surah Duha in my work before, but this return is different.
It’s not about producing a body of work quickly. It’s about staying with the text - allowing it to unfold slowly through reflection, making, and correspondence.
Each mailing will engage with an aspect of the surah, shared over time rather than rushed toward conclusions.
Why subscribe?
You might consider joining The Parables Print Club if:
-
You value slowness and depth over constant output
-
You want to engage with art and faith in a tangible way
-
You appreciate handwritten words and physical objects
-
You’re interested in Surah Duha as a text that speaks to uncertainty and reassurance
-
You want to receive something made with care, not urgency
This is an offering for those who want to stay with the work rather than move past it.
