A Glimmer of Hope: Finding Light Through Patience
In times of waiting and uncertainty, we often search for signs of hope - reminders that our struggles are not in vain. A Glimmer of Hope (2025) was born from this deep, personal reflection. Inspired by and calligraphy of verses from Surah Ad-Duhaa:
“And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life]. And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.”
This artwork invites contemplation on the promise of something greater beyond what we can see. The verse speaks to those moments of hardship when it feels as though nothing is moving forward, gently reminding us that patience is not passive; it is an active, faith-filled waiting for divine goodness.

Bringing Paradise to Life Through Art
Visually, A Glimmer of Hope draws from the timeless beauty of Persian miniature painting. Lush green hills, flowing rivers, and blooming trees weave together to symbolise the Gardens of Paradise - the ultimate reward for those who persevere through life’s trials. Tiny, delicate motifs are layered throughout, each thoughtfully placed to guide the eye and the heart.
Gold leaf adds a sacred glow, reflecting the light of Divine promise, while hand-ground pigments create richness and depth that echo the textures of nature. Every element was chosen to evoke serenity and a sense of timelessness.
A Conversation Between Patience and Promise
As I painted this piece, I found myself drawn deeper into the meaning of sabr (patience) - not just as a quiet endurance, but as a hopeful trust in Allah’s mercy and timing. The rivers and gardens remind us that beyond every storm lies a landscape of peace. Even when we cannot see it, we are moving toward it, step by faithful step.
