Qalbun Saleem: The Sound Heart and Its Eternal Journey
Introducing Sakina: A Sacred Space for Reflection, Creativity & Healing
Written by Shazia Osman

There’s a word in the Qur’an that has always spoken to my heart: Sakina.
It means tranquility, divine stillness — a sense of calm that descends gently from Allah, even in the midst of hardship. It’s a peace that doesn't always make logical sense, but you feel it in your bones. It anchors you. It reminds you that you’re being held.
Over the past few years, I’ve turned to Islamic art as a means of navigating my own journey with mental health, faith, and identity. What started as personal healing slowly blossomed into something I wanted to share — not just as art, but as a space. A space for others who are searching, feeling, wondering, and longing for that quiet peace of Sakina too.
And so — Sakina was born.
🌙 What is Sakina?
Sakina is more than a project — it’s a sanctuary.
It’s a new online space for Muslim creatives and seekers who want to explore their inner world through the lens of Islamic art, storytelling, and spiritual reflection. Through journaling prompts, affirmations, art, and community offerings, my intention is to create something that nurtures the heart — softly, slowly, intentionally.
Whether you’re someone who:
-
feels overwhelmed and longs for moments of stillness
-
struggles to stay spiritually connected during hard times
-
wants to explore your creativity as a form of dhikr and healing
-
or simply needs a gentle space to land and reflect
Sakina is for you.
📿 What You’ll Find in This Space
Here’s what I’m building within Sakina:
-
🌟 Islamic affirmation decks rooted in Qur’anic healing and creativity
-
🖋️ Reflective journaling pages with prompts to anchor your heart
-
🎨 Mini courses & workshops on Islamic art and spirituality
-
🌱 Monthly live sessions offering reflections and creative resources via [Patreon / newsletter]
-
🤲🏽 A kind, spiritually centered community to grow alongside
Everything I create here is inspired by the sacred rhythm of night and day, hardship and ease — a reminder that the same God who brings the dawn after the darkest night is the One who brings tranquility to our hearts.
🤍 Why Sakina Matters
In a world that constantly demands output, speed, and perfection, Sakina is an invitation to slow down.
To return to your breath. To remember Allah.
To make art without shame. To write your truth.
To sit with your emotions — not in judgment, but in mercy.
Because healing is not separate from faith.
Because creativity is a form of worship.
Because you were always meant to be whole.

May this space bring you gentleness. May it remind you that peace is near, always.
With love and barakah,
Rashida
