The Sun Will Rise Again (2025)
Ink, 23.5k gold leaf, diamond dust, hand-ground pigments on indigo-dyed wasli paper
The Sun Will Rise Again is a luminous exploration of resilience, renewal, and divine mercy. Inspired by and featuring the verses of Surah Ad-Duha - “By the morning brightness, and by the night when it covers” - this artwork reflects on the cycles of darkness and light that shape both nature and the human heart.
The piece features intricate shamsa motifs, hand-painted on indigo-dyed wasli paper. Rich gold leaf and shimmering diamond dust evoke the tension between fragility and radiance, while the deep indigo background grounds the composition in a sense of quiet contemplation.
This work is part of a five-piece series that reimagines traditional Islamic illumination techniques for a contemporary context, addressing themes of depression, anxiety, and spiritual healing. The Sun Will Rise Again invites the viewer to reflect on the quiet promise that after every night, the light of morning is sure to return.
