A Mother’s Heart
Title: A Mother’s Heart
Size: 80 x 60 cm
Mixed media and collage on gallery wrapped canvas
Inspiration: This painting was inspired dwelling upon the moment when Prophet Musa’s (AS) mother had to make the decision to separate from her son, in order to keep him safe. She placed him in a basket and dropped it in a river.
The flowing lines drawn using relief paste symbolise the harsh waves, and the droplets symbolise the angels guarding baby Musa (AS).
I chose to write two verses:
“Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal wakeel” - Allah (SWT) is sufficient for us and He is the best Disposer of affairs
“Wa Huwa ma’akum aina ma ku yum” - And He is with you wherever you are
The crackle texture and stones used symbolise the feeling for a mother when she has to be separated from her child. The ultimate lesson, is to have Tawakkul (trust) in the plan of Allah (SWT) and Patience in the face of hardships
